REVIVAL; What It Is and Why You Need It

Hey family,

Ok, alright. It's been a while. Exams are sitting on my neck, but so is the Lord so here I am.

So two (ish) weeks ago, there was a big night of worship I attended, at which I realised something was wrong. I was praying and praying, on my knees and on my face (as Heather Lindsay would say), but then I felt something weird. It was as if I was a car that ran out of fuel suddenly, or like a light bulb that got it's power supply cut. And this was when I realised: I needed revival.

You see, in this Christian journey, there may be times where you backslide, fall into sin, stop making time for God and start living without Him in mind. This wasn't exactly what happened for me. I felt distant when praying, daily devotionals became a whenever-I-want-to-feel-good devotional. I started making decisions without first consulting God, and ignoring those don't-do-it feelings I normally get.

See this is a VERY dangerous place to be, family. This is the beginning of backsliding and this is potentially even worse. I'll tell you why. When you're backsliding, you know you're doing things wrong; you know you need to repent. But this grey area? Dangerous. You're kinda sorta praying but you're kinda sorta tip toeing around sin and you kinda love God but you kinda love everything worldly too. Kinda.

The problem is, the grey area in our minds is better than being in hardcore sin right? Problem: God says nah. Revelations 3:15 essentially says it's better to be 100% for Christ or not. Those in the grey area are called lukewarm and God said he will spit you out of His mouth. Yikes.

Examples of when you need revival:

-you're experiencing spiritual dryness

-sinful acts are becoming a part of daily lifestyle

-lacking peace, joy, hope

-in self-doubt, uncertainty, insecurity

SO, what do we do? The good news is that God is always willing to pour out grace and love on His kids. Let me show you how the love of God chased me down:

-4th May- Worship Night (where I realised something wasn't right)

-4th-7th May-My favourite daily devotional, Open Heavens starts a 4 day Revival series; Day 1= When You Need Revival. (God explained what was wrong. Bare in mind I read this the following day, because as I said, I'd been slacking on my reading. Fifth May is when I decided to catch up)

-8th May- Daily Devotional topic: Spiritual Warfare- bare in mind the journey of Christianity is not a joke. It is a race which we must run with focus, in order to get the prize (1 Corinthians 9:24). If such is true, then surely Satan knows that when we are in the grey area, we are not running; this delights him. So when we realise this and start to seek revival, SATAN ISN'T HAPPY. Spiritual warfare may arise- the fight of resistance against the devil.

A lot of other relevant topics were in the devotional, including Weapons of Spiritual Warfare which tells you the signs to look out for. I'll link this here.

-18th May-Last minute, scrolling through Twitter (on a 3 and a half hour revision break) I saw an event advertised that would take place close to the library I was at. Guess what it was called? I'll wait.

REVIVE. YES I'M SHOUTING BECAUSE GOD LOVES TO SEND SHOTS (of love).

Of course I went, of course He sent shots (continuously) during the alter call and of course I love Him for it.

SO, I'm going to summarise what to do if you are in this position, but I strongly recommend you also read the 4 part series free online on Open Heavens.

1) Firstly, we must yield our lives to His Word. We need to show that we are serious in our desire to seek Him, so abiding by the lifestyle He has told us to live is key. This may be a struggle for you; ask Him for grace-it is sufficient.

2) Persist in prayer. As I said earlier, the devil is having a whale of a time knowing you're in the grey area. When you're trying to change this, it is not always going to be easy! And it is not a matter of a one time prayer- persistence is necessary. Walk with God daily and talk to Him before you make any decision. Tell Him how you feel before making emotion based decisions or allowing your day to be ruined.

3) Fellowship!!!!!!!!! Ask people to pray with you, if you have a prayer team at church, a friend at school/uni/work. And surround yourself with people who are on fire for God or who are at least seeking Him the way you desire to be. It really will rub off on you and encourage you. Also, accountability is another reason to have spirit-lead people around you.

Okay, that's it. SO much love for everyone reading. I literally wouldn't have been able to write this post if I was unrevived. Please share this with your snap (you dont know who will need this) or specific people who know need it. It's really not about me at all, it's about people coming to God and knowing what the true meaning of live ya best life is. Ok bye.

Blessings
